It’s been how long?

So I bought a new lens yesterday – it was kind of an impulse buy – I just popped out in my lunch break to get it, but I have been wanting one for a very long time, and my only other lens is the kit lens, so I think I deserved it. Here’s my new baby:

Isn’t she pretty? Turns out though – buying a new lens does not automatically make your photos awesome – so I think I have a bit of a learning curve ahead of me. I’ve been practicing today, and I have even been shooting in manual mode for the first time. Safe to say I got mostly disastrous shots, but I did get a couple that I’m happy with.

This first one is for the staycation treasure hunt over at WST, it’s lots of fun, so make sure you check it out in the forums.

The assignment for this was dandelion:

And I thought this one of the cat was pretty cool too:

I am just loving the bokeh (that’s what it’s called, isn’t it?) in this one:

I know my focusing is a bit off (and a lot of other things too), but as I said – learning curve!

Sjempe fint! I almost never take my 50mm off, love it so much. And yes, it is called bokeh. :)
